Koji Uehara receives a touching surprise right after the opening pitch: "I almost cried" - he posts a photo from the stadium aisle
Koji Uehara, who played for the Giants and in major league baseball, updated his X on the 21st. "After I threw the first pitch, Turner was waiting for me in the aisle. I almost cried," he wrote in a post with a photo.
Uehara threw the first pitch as a former Cubs player at the second game of the Cubs-Dodgers opening series (on the 19th). After pitching, he entered the stadium aisle next to the bench, where Cubs infielder Justin Turner was waiting for him.
Turner is a 40-year-old veteran who has been playing for the Cubs since this season and has a career batting average of .285 and 198 home runs in the MLB.
He posted a photo of the two of them meeting and exchanging words. Uehara seemed deeply moved, saying, "We hugged each other and said goodbye... I hope you'll do your best. We were Orioles in 2009."
