It was learned on the 1st that Shinsuke Takahashi, the manga artist known for popular manga such as "Pierroman" and "Teppen: The Story of Tenshin Nasukawa," was rushed to the hospital in a state of cardiac arrest and is currently in a vegetative state. Takahashi's family announced this on their official X account.

Takahashi's X posted a document titled "To everyone who always thinks of Shinsuke." It read, "I would like to report on what has happened since Shinsuke collapsed on September 7th." It explained, "On the afternoon of September 7th, 2025, an arrhythmia occurred and his heart and lungs stopped. He was rushed to the hospital and resuscitation efforts were made with an AED, but a normal heart rhythm did not return, and oxygen was not being delivered to his brain for a long time. He was admitted to the ICU and resuscitation was carried out using many machines for three days, but because oxygen was not being delivered to his brain for such a long time, he developed hypoxic encephalopathy, and most of his cerebrum was damaged, with his brainstem remaining viable. He was diagnosed as being in a vegetative state."

His family continued, "He underwent a tracheotomy in mid-September, and even after he was released from the ICU at the beginning of October and transferred to the hospital's general ward, he continued to experience drops in blood pressure, irregular heartbeats, and difficulty in defecating, and we never knew what would happen next. But even so, Shinsuke overcame each of these challenges with the help of treatment, everyone's support, and his own strength, and now he is breathing with his own heart and lungs, and although he is unconscious, he is doing his best to survive," he said, expressing his gratitude for the voices of support.

Takahashi worked as an assistant to manga artist Yasushi Baba, known for works such as "Karate Prince Kohinata Kairyu," and in 2004 won an honorable mention in the Young Artist category of the 51st Chiba Tetsuya Award for "Fate." In 2005, he won the same award's Outstanding Newcomer Award for "Angel Devil." In December of the same year, he made his debut as a manga artist with the serialization of "Ultimate Gachinko: Legend of the Mixed Martial Arts King" on Kodansha's web comic "MiChao!"
