Dodgers pitcher Freeman appears on talk show with his wife, saying, "My beautiful wife helped me" what he did after winning the World Series? He also reveals the tearful "special moment"
Dodgers infielder Freddie Freeman appeared on the talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live on the 5th (6th Japan time). Accompanied by his wife Chelsea, he looked back on this season.
"It was a special moment," Freeman said of the game against the Phillies at Dodger Stadium on August 5. Freeman had been sidelined at the end of July when his third son, Max, was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome, but he returned to the starting lineup for the first time in nine games and contributed to the win.
"When I left the team in July to look after Max, and came back, it was the most special moment I've ever experienced. 53,000 fans gave me a standing ovation," Freeman recalled on the show. He revealed that Max was unable to stand or breathe at one point, and said in tears at the press conference, "It was heartbreaking. I often thought, 'I wish I could take his place.'"
He continued, "After winning the World Series, I got home at 9:30 the next morning, but with the help of my beautiful wife, we went out trick-or-treating." He also shared a video of the children dressed up as Spiderman, walking around with Max and getting candy. It touched the hearts of fans.
He also revealed that there were a lot of people dressed up as Shohei Ohtani also candidly talked about his right ankle injury, his record-tying 11 RBIs in the World Series, and his current state of mind. Chelsea, who was in the stands, was also shown on screen halfway through the show.
After the performance, the two took a commemorative photo with the World Series trophy in the background. Many people responded with comments such as, "You both look great. Your Freddie costumes are perfect," "I'm so happy for you and Chelsea and your wonderful family," "I'm still thinking about Max!" and "The cutest couple ever♡."
