Sherry Drury (17), a female track and field athlete from Tsuyama High School in Okayama, will be joining the track and field team at the University of Washington. The team updated their official Instagram on the 13th, announcing that Sherry Drury (Tsuyama High School) has been accepted, writing, "Welcome to Washington." "Sherry Drury is a Husky (nickname for the University of Washington athletics team). Sherry holds a 3,000-meter record of 9 minutes and 2 seconds, and is coming to Seattle from Japan," the team wrote.

The posted image was captioned "SIGNED" and introduced Drury as a long-distance runner from Tsuyama City, Okayama Prefecture.

The Washington University Athletics Club is a powerhouse in Division 1 of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The club also includes the Mohr sisters, who competed in the women's pole vault at this summer's World Championships in Tokyo.

Drury is from Tsuyama City, Okayama Prefecture. She has a Canadian father and a Japanese mother. As a third-year student at Tsuruyama Junior High School, she competed in the National Inter-Prefectural Women's Ekiden, where she drew attention by overtaking 17 runners in the third section (3km) and setting a new section record. She went on to win the gold medal at the 2024 U-20 Asian Championships.
